Regenerative Design in Ukraine

NGO 001 started in early 2018 in Kyiv, Ukraine, as arts & culture center. Around 150 events were held, ranging from exhibitions and workshops to parties, movie nights, mini-festivals and startup pitch sessions. Later, in 2021, a research was started around sustainable living, autonomy, energy independence and green building. The Program concept was developed: Affordable Autonomous Housing with minimal CO2 footprint and intervention into nature. Multiple R&D projects were started around achieving this complex engineering goal with a budget of especially taking into account comparable high cost of renewables back then. In 2023 we started 2 projects - houses incorporating the principles we developed. The context of war significantly increased the importance of our Program. As of 2025 our main project and testing lab, the House 001, is in liveable state for 1.5 years. Vast amounts of data has been collected leading to a vision of V2 house. 3 levels of autonomy are defined and the 1st level, by energy, is achieved (based on metrics). We've became partners of the New European Bauhaus movement. Current activity & Further goals- Keep integrating of our solutions within communities, international partnerships. InnovateUK and NEB Facility partnerships are in progress - Educational programme development around Experts in Autonomy - Continue with R&D with the aim of reaching the Autonomy Levels 2 and 3 (water and food). Long-term goal is to build cities and villages, based on a completely re-thought approach of living in harmony with nature and creating sustainable abundance and happiness for everyone.
