Nyangani Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd
Nyangani Renewable Energy (Pvt) Ltd, based in Harare, designs, builds and operates both run of river hydroelectric power schemes and solar PV power schemes to deliver electricity into the Zimbabwe and Malawi national grids. The hydroelectric schemes are on the rivers flowing from the Nyangani Massif in eastern Zimbabwe and from Mount Mulanje in Malawi. The solar scheme is in Mutoko, Zimbabwe. NRE has built 43MW of generation capacity. In 2020 we delivered into the national grids 116,403 MWh of electricity. This is enough power to supply approximately people in the region with electricity for a year and because it was all from renewable electricity, we reduced carbon emissions by 82,302 tonnes of CO2 in 2020. NRE help empower local communities through its work with the Honde Hydroelectric Power Trust which has, amongst other community projects, connected 52 schools to the national grid.
