Peace Training and Research Organisation (PTRO) is an Afghan NGO based in Kabul. We work on peace, conflict and justice issues, and provide training in peacebuilding and good governance. We conduct research for national and international governmental organisations, NGOs and national bodies, to inform policy and provide a deeper understanding of the relevant issues. For many years PTRO staff have focused their attention on local conflict, both through extensive community-based capacity-building and research in areas afflicted by violence. Fundación De Investigación Oftalmológica
La Fundación de Investigación Oftalmológica (FIO) inicia su actividad en abril de 2009 con un claro objetivo: avanzar en el conocimiento de las bases de las enfermedades que causan ceguera y alteraciones de la visión para lograr nuevas medidas de prevención, diagnóstico y tratamiento médico-quirúrgico. Desarrolla cuatro líneas de investigación: superficie ocular; neurobiología de la retina; genética ocular e investigación clínica. Sus trabajos permiten que los resultados que se obtienen en el laboratorio se trasladen al paciente rápidamente, contribuyendo así a mejorar la salud de las personas. A esta tarea se suma la docencia en oftalmología y ciencias de la visión. En 2015, la FIO se adscribió a la Universidad de Oviedo, constituyéndose el Instituto Universitario Fernández-Vega (IUFV), en el que se imparten diversos programas de postgrado, lo que facilita a los especialistas estar al día en los últimos avances de la medicina. La FIO pertenece al Instituto Oftalmológico Fernández-Vega (IOFV), el cual constituye, desde hace ya 130 años y cinco generaciones, una referencia nacional e internacional, gracias al objetivo de mejora permanente de todas sus áreas: clínica, quirúrgica, investigadora y docente. El centro está orientado a ofrecer, a los más de pacientes que recibe al año, una atención excelente, garantizada por los avances tecnológicos que ha incorporado, así como por la revisión constante de la calidad y seguridad de los procedimientos médicos y quirúrgicos y, sobre todo, por la profesionalidad y experiencia de sus más de 200 profesionales. Además de la Fundación de Investigación Oftalmológica (FIO), el IOFV cuenta con la Fundación Fernández-Vega (FFV), que desarrolla la tradicional labor social y de mecenazgo que la familia ha llevado a cabo siempre, con el objetivo de facilitar el acceso a servicios y prestaciones oftalmológicas a personas y colectivos desfavorecidos.
