Belarusian Republican Foundation For Fundamental Research Brffr

The Foundation for Fundamental Research (FFR) was established by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Belarus in May, 1991 in order to strengthen financial support of fundamental and exploratory research in areas of natural and technical sciences and humanities, conducted by scientific organizations, higher education institutions and individual scientists within priority directions of such research. In 1996 by the Decree of the Government FFR was renamed to the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research (BRFFR), new Statute of the Foundation was adopted as well as membership of the Scientific Council and Trusteeship Council was approved. The Foundation was granted with additional rights and new opportunities for stimulation and support of fundamental research in Belarus. After incorporation of the Foundation into the structure of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus the Statute of the Foundation was approved by the Resolution of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus № 57 dated 20 August, 2004.

The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NAS of Belarus, or NASB) is the highest state scientific organization of the Republic of Belarus, a country in the middle of Europe. Founded in October 1928 and officially inaugurated on January 1, 1929 under the name of The Belarusian Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is the guiding research center of Belarus, which unites the highly-skilled scientists of different specialties and dozens of research, scientific-production, design and inculcation organizations. The staff of the Academy of Sciences includes more than researchers, technicians and supporting personnel whose average age is under 48 years old.
