Guam Human Rights Initiative Ghri
Håfa Adai and hello! The GHRI seeks to cultivate a network of motivated individuals and institutions in Guam, Asia-Pacific and the world. Collaborating on a regional scale will allow primary and secondary stakeholders to explore opportunities beyond Guam’s reefs and collaborate in tackling human rights issues, whether social, environmental, or institutional. This 501(c)(3) is designed with flexibility and growth in mind, as the concept of human rights is constantly evolving. This means that the work undertaken would not be limited to distinctly environmental or social issues, but would be mindful of the interconnectedness of a wider range of issues. The GHRI seeks to unite grassroots organizations, public and private institutions, and academic rigor to produce research and policy recommendations. While initially focusing on Guam, it will be able to quickly evolve to include research throughout the Northern Mariana Islands and the Pacific. The GHRI seeks to empower locally grown academics through support of self-directed research projects, to connect invested organizations and individuals in an easily accessible network, and to create opportunities for mutual growth. In proud partnership with the University of Guam’s Regional Center for Public Policy. Si Yu'os Ma'åse! Thank you! Founded by Dr. Erika Anderson and Mary Kate Soliva.
