Instituto Pedro Nunes is a non-profit private organization founded in 1991. IPN promotes innovation and technology transfer, being the main link between the University of Coimbra and the business sector. IPN has currently a team of almost 100 permanent staff to support startups and researchers in these activities. With a self-sustained business model, IPN operates in three complementary areas: 1. Incubation and acceleration of technology-based enterprises; 2. Research and technological development; 3. Highly specialized training. Incubation and acceleration of technology-based enterprises activities: IPN helps startups with technical guidance in the establishment and early stages of business development. It has 6.200 m2 for business incubation and acceleration space installations and IPN-Incubator won in 2010 the 1st place in the world award for "Best Science-Based Incubator”. Centre Of Marine Sciences Ccmar
The Centre of Marine Sciences (CCMAR) is a non-profit organization located on the Gambelas campus of the University of Algarve and dedicated to R&D in the Marine Sciences. On the basis of international evaluation and excellence ranking it was awarded the status of Associate Laboratory together with CIIMAR (Interdisciplinary Centre for Marine and Environmental Research). It has 200 people on its staff, 80 of which hold a PhD degree. CCMAR fields of expertise cover molecular biology, genetics, endocrinology, biophysics, organic chemistry and ecology of marine organisms. R&D and training activities have been applied to the development of aquaculture, biotechnology and environmental technologies for the study and management of marine resources and ecosystems. The main funding sources have been the Foundation for Science and Technology, the European Commission, FEDER, the Innovation Agency, S.A, public agencies and private companies, generating 550 peer-reviewed papers in SCI-indexed journals in the last 5 years. CCMAR plays an active role in the dissemination of marine sciences and best practices in schools as well as fish- and shellfish-dependent local communities with more than 200 seminars, workshops, meetings and courses as well as participation in science and R&D fairs. CCMAR features well equipped facilities for investigating marine biological systems at various levels, from biochemistry and molecular biology through genetics, physiology, behavior, ecology and oceanography. Easy access to the unique and extensive mudflats and ponds of Ria Formosa and coastal areas facilitate in situ studies. The Ramalhete Marine Station is a versatile infrastructure with tanks to keep to keep live organisms and outdoor mesocosms. CCMAR serves as infrastructure for students and scientists from universities and institutes throughout Europe and is part of European initiatives providing user access to special facilities and biological models such as Assemble and EMBRC.

Cintesis - Center For Health Technology And Services Research
CINTESIS is a national-based, decentralized, multidisciplinary research unit comprising about 500 researchers (198 PhD integrated members) whose governance and organizational model was designed to provide a highly performing and efficient environment for health sciences and health care research. The Unit relies on a highly flexible and decentralised management structure, supported by administrative and technical staff from 46 institutions (29 HEI, 12 Hospitals/healthcare institutions, 5 health companies) protocolled with the Unit, including 8 local management poles at 5 universities (UPorto, UAveiro, NOVA, UAlgarve, UMadeira) and 1 polytechnic (Nursing School of Porto - ESEP). The 3 proposed thematic lines (TL) for CINTESIS i.e. Preventive Medicine & Societal Challenges (TL1), Clinical & Translational Research (TL2) and Health Data and Decision Sciences & Information Technologies (TL3) are strongly aligned with the major priorities defined by Horizon 2020 (and what is known of FP9 and Portugal 2030) for health research in Europe and the FCT National Agenda for Health, Clinical and Translational Research. These TL comprises 23 research groups (RG) that address key Health and Societal Challenges and provide the needed research capacities and expertise in order to perform translational research and innovation within real healthcare environment. Specific RG from CINTESIS will be devoted to: clinical and economical assessment of treatment, prevention and rehabilitative interventions; development of methods, tools and ICT applications that may have a direct impact in the wellbeing of elderly people; development and validation of new diagnostic tests; improvement of treatment control and patient monitoring; and development of methods and systems to deal with big data and complex biomedical information. AIMM is a Portuguese environmental non-governmental and not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the research and conservation of marine species and ecosystems. Founded in 2010 and based in the Algarve region, AIMM aims to be a reference for research, conservation and education of the marine environment, promoting activities and establishing partnerships that, in a cooperative way, enhance the understanding of issues related to the marine environment. AIMM has developed most of its projects in the Algarve region, but also in other regions of Portugal and outside the country, particularly in the Atlantic. The Institute of Electronics and Informatics Engineering of Aveiro (IEETA) is one of the Research Units of the University of Aveiro. It is the Research Unit 127/94, approved by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). The main mission is to put the expertise of its members at the service of the development of Intelligent Systems for Human Assistance, helping solve problems in several domains of knowledge. Two major areas contribute to this mission which are mapped into two of the three research groups of IEETA, namely, BIT (Biomedical Informatics and Technologies) and IRIS (Intelligent Robotics and Systems). The third group, ISP (Information Systems and Processing), contributes to both fronts as a catalyst, by providing expertise in areas such as computational intelligence, high-performance algorithms, augmented and virtual reality, large-scale information systems, security, and signal and image processing. In these contexts, the impact of research carried on at IEETA has been felt not only at the national level but also internationally, resulting in numerous publications and awards. Some good examples are the participation in several innovation frameworks like Ambient Assisted Living Joint Program, MIT-Portugal, CMU-Portugal, H2020, PT-PRR, and Horizon. Empowered by its internal diversity and collaborative environment, IEETA has provided important contributions to high-level multidisciplinary problems, a fundamental advantage in a context where strongly multidisciplinary challenges are increasingly frequent. IEETA is also a member of LASI (Intelligent Systems Associate Laborator). LASI is a reference laboratory for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in Portugal.

Lsts Feup
The Laboratório de Sistemas e Tecnologias Subaquáticas (LSTS) is an interdisciplinary research laboratory established in 1997 with researchers drawn from Electric and Computer and Mechanical Engineering and from Computer Science. The LSTS is specialized on the design, construction, and operation of unmanned underwater, surface and air vehicles and on the development of tools and technologies for the deployment of networked vehicle systems. In the last 15 years researchers from the LSTS have successfully fielded unmanned air, ground, surface and underwater vehicles in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, and also in the Mediterranean sea. These vehicle systems implement the LSTS control architecture with the help of the LSTS Neptus-IMC-Dune software tool chain. Neptus is a distributed command, control, communications and intelligence framework for operations with networked vehicles, systems, and human operators. IMC is a communications protocol that defines a common control message set understood by all types of LSTS nodes. DUNE is the system for vehicle on-board software. It is used to write generic embedded software at the heart of the vehicle, e.g. code for control, navigation, or to access sensors and actuators. It provides an operating-system and architecture independent C++ programming environment for writing efficient real-time reactive tasks in modular fashion. The tool chain has support for Disruption-tolerant Networking (DTN) protocols.

CISTER (Research Centre in Real-Time and Embedded Computing Systems) is a top-ranked Research Unit based at the School of Engineering (ISEP) of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (P.Porto), Portugal. CISTER was, in the 2004 evaluation process, the only research unit in Portugal, in the areas of electrical engineering and computer science and engineering, to be awarded the level of Excellent. This excellent rating was confirmed in the last evaluation process (2007) CISTER, in which only one other research unit in these areas received this rating. Porto Space Team is an association of engineering students driven by a shared mission: to fill the void in university-level, space-related projects here in Porto and across the northern region of Portugal. We envision the constant growth of the space industry to continue in the upcoming years, therefore we’re taking proactive steps to ensure that we are ready for the future that awaits us in the aerospace world. Artificial intelligence (AI) is an innovative and powerful technology that holds promise for economic and societal benefits. AI has the potential to remodel how we communicate, live, learn and work. In this sense, AI research shows potential to further our regional and national priorities, including economy needs, educational opportunities, quality of life, and security. AI research has continuously expanded, proving its added-value for multiple tasks, such as image processing, handwriting recognition, and human language translation. Nowadays, AI targets the expansion of the number of application situations, aiming to develop more general solutions that meets the requirements of different applications without significant methodological modifications. To challenge this driven research, 2Ai was established in february 2018 at IPCA and combines researchers from computer vision, cognitive systems, machine learning, natural language processing, serious games, and robotics areas. 2Ai will pursue research on fundamental advances in the above AI areas, mainly focusing on applying these cross-cutting themes in the development of technically innovative solutions and services for health, industry, environment and security.

Cense - Center For Environmental And Sustainability Research
CENSE is the research branch of a wider organization including researchers, students and staff from the NOVA School of Science and Technology of NOVA University Lisbon, plus a number of affiliated organizations, including University of Algarve and Universidade Aberta. CENSE’s ecosystem is formed by its researchers, former students and the extended network of research partners around the World, its spin-offs, and professional support services. CENSE members are actively engaged in strengthening the Centre’s role at the frontier of sustainability research, namely through participation of its members in governance bodies of scientific societies, editorial boards and associate editorship of scientific journals, collaboration in scientific networks, expert committees and project evaluation panels, and international consortia of R&D projects financed through competitive calls of H2020, INTERREG, ERA-NET, ERASMUS+ and LIFE, among others. CENSE researchers have also established robust links with policy and societal organizations. For example, CENSE members participate regularly in relevant national and EU policy processes, coordinating studies or integrating policy support committees, panels or advisory boards in its core research areas. Through initiatives such as EIT Climate-KIC, CENSE branches out to the market, promoting innovation activities and new start-ups. Scientific and technological developments of the CENSE Ecosystem will soon be embodied by the CENSE Café, an ongoing initiative which will become our community centre.

Associação RAEGE Açores (RAEGE-Az) was founded in 2017 and is a non-profit association of technical, scientific and research nature. A-RAEGE-Az is among others accountable for the management of the scientific activities developed in the RAEGE Space and Geodetic stations of Santa Maria and Flores Islands. The RAEGE Atlantic network (Rede Atlântica de Estações Geodinâmicas e Espaciais) consists in an agreement between Spain and Azores Regional Government to build and operate 4 Fundamental Geodetic Stations (Yebes, Santa Maria, Gran Canaria and Flores) placed in different tectonic plates (Eurasian, African and North American plates) in order to set up a Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) observing network. Each RAEGE Site is equipped with a 13.2m radio telescope of VGOS (VLBI Global Observing System) specifications, permanent GNSS stations, a gravimeter, one hydrogen maser clock, a seismograph and an accelerograph. A-RAEGE-Az is involved in multiple initiatives and partnerships with relevant entities such as: AIR Centre, Colab +Atlantic, C4G, Engage-SKA, PT Space, IGN, Copernicus Relays, among others.

Rise - Health Research Network
The Associate Laboratory RISE – Rede de Investigação em Saúde – was created in 2021 and our mission is to strengthen Health Research, from the preclinical and clinical stages to the community level, by connecting universities to healthcare providers, in the scope of the Portuguese policy for Science and Technology. We aim to be a major player and catalyst in changing the clinical, translational and community research landscape in Portugal. Headquartered at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), RISE was created through a consortium that unites CINTESIS – Centre for Research in Health Technologies and Services and the Cardiovascular Research and Development Unit (UnIC), two research units installed at FMUP, with the Cardiovascular Centre of the University of Lisbon of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (CCUL) and the Research Centre of the Portuguese Institute of Oncology of the Porto (CI-IPOP). SOCIUS, Research Centre in Economic and Organisational Sociology, is a research centre from ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics & Management, Universidade de Lisboa, created in May 1991 by teachers and researchers.
