The Thought Institute
Our mission is to create a more thoughtful society that is able to solve the complex problems and challenges impacting our country and world. We pursue this mission by performing independent research across multiple sectors including, education, the environment, economic development, public health, and safety. Nonprofit and nonpartisan, the institute connects educators, researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders at all levels with the evidence, ideas, and actions needed to strengthen these sectors. The results of the research are then further examined as part of continued efforts to develop, sustain and suggest policies for a better Jamaica. To inform and develop, we: Marshal and disseminate research and evidence in a manner accessible to thought leaders, educators, parents, and policymakers. This includes local and international research, conducting synthetic and policy-relevant research, and commissioning research in particular areas where it is most needed. Produce relevant materials that make issues clear for the general public and policymakers, including policy briefs, reports, surveys, blogs, and op-eds on specific topics. Host briefings, seminars, and other convenings with thought leaders, educators, parents, and policymakers. These highlight recent studies, take up current issues and respond to pressing questions. Communicate ideas and information via print, radio, television, and electronic media—highlighting the implications for evidence-based conclusions.
