Pal-Think For Strategic Studies
Pal-Think for Strategic Studies is an independent non-profit think and do tank that aims to stimulate and inspire rational public discussions and consensus for the well being of the Palestinians. Pal-Thinks work is structured around a dual focus on 1) in-depth research and 2) civic society empowerment through project work; this way Pal-Think aims to give a clear platform for constructive debate and dialogue and to produce up to date research relevant of the Palestinian cause and the situation in the Middle East. There are multiple Palestinian and international researchers, authors, politicians and activists connected to Pal-think and its work. Up to now, some of Pal-Thinks main priorities have been to conduct research about the reconstruction of Gaza as well as the reconciliation- and peace processes of sustaining a shared Palestinian unit, both politically, geographically and socio-economically. A great effort has also been placed on actively engaging the young Palestinian population in meaningful political work and empowering them to take part in the civic life in Gaza.

Palestine Institute For Biodiversity And Sustainability
The Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (PIBS) and the Palestine Museum of Natural History (PMNH) at Bethlehem University have been established in order to research, educate about, and conserve our natural world, culture and heritage and use the knowledge we have gained to promote responsible human interactions with our environment using largely volunteer efforts and local donations. We use our knowledge to promote responsible and empowered human interactions with all the components of our environment towards a sustainable ecosystem. Our motto is RESPECT – first for ourselves, then for others, then for the environment. In the past two years, we have managed to: 1.Publish several research papers (on topics ranging from environmental health to biodiversity to museology, to reptiles, to butterflies, and more) 2.Initiate a botanic garden with an integrated water and land ecosystem, 3.Develop permaculture including bee keeping and aquaponics systems (production, research, and knowledge transfer), 4.Develop an educational program which has included hosting science festivals that have benefited hundreds of school students, 5.Host hundreds of local and international visitors who have gained knowledge of the local challenges and opportunities, 6.Build partnerships with local and global governmental and non-governmental agencies resulting in benefit to the environment and to sustainability, 7.Develop databases and other resources including collections, a photo library, a digital library, a local biodiversity database, and a seed bank. We now have an integrated system for research, education, and conservation, addressing areas of need in Palestine. The museum grounds and its botanic garden (with its integrated ecosystem) is also an oasis for wildlife in Bethlehem and an oasis for young people seeking alternatives and a new way of looking at themselves and their environment, offering both empowerment and nature conservation.

Institute Of Community And Public Health
ICPH was established informally as Palestinian social action was emerging at the end of the 1970’s, then as a formal university unit, a department, and as an institute in 1998. Its mission and goals have been primarily defined by the extra-ordinary conditions of Israeli military occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The institute's inception, growth and development were a response to the Palestinian community's need for generating the evidence required to develop independent and informed health policies, plans and programs. ICPH aims to contribute to the protection and improvement of the health of the Palestinian population through research, teaching the Master's in Public Health (MPH) and Diploma programs, and the capacity building of public health providers and planners. Its theoretical foundations are based on the notion that health is socially constructed; and on understanding health and disease in context, taking shape over the life course. Medical services are considered important for achieving health, but not sufficient, requiring additional action outside health services and within community and society to address the structural factors that influence health and well being, such as economic, social, cultural, political, and environmental influences on health. ICPH defines health as a basic human right, and focuses on justice in health It promotes a multidisciplinary and inter-sectoral approach to address health problems, and for the promotion of population health. This approach requires team work, and a focus on issues as opposed to disciplines. Active cooperation with community and society ensures that the link between theory and practice is maintained.
