SCDPB, conservă în colecțiile naționale tezaurul genetic pentru speciile cais, piersic și nectarin, cantonate în zona de sud a României. Stațiunea de Cercetare-Dezvoltare pentru Pomicultură Băneasa-București are o lungă tradiție în studiul, cercetarea și 🧬 ameliorarea speciilor termofile (cais, piersic, migdal ș.a.), înregistrând performanțe deosebite de-a lungul istoriei sale cu soiurile omologate. Amintim cele 11 soiuri de cais:'Olimp','Excelsior','Dacia','Comandor','Favorit','Rareș','Carmela','Viorica','Valeria','Nicușor' și 'Adina'. Soiurile de piersic sunt tot în număr de 11 și acestea sunt:'Flacăra','Splendid','Superbă de toamnă','Congres','Triumf','Victoria','Antonia','Amalia','Alexia','Eugen' și 'Dida'. Se cunoaște faptul că nectarinul este o mutație naturală a piersicului, se caracterizează prin lipsa de puf de pe epicarpul (pielița) fructului, iar SCDP Băneasa a dezvoltat soiurile 'Tina' și 'Mihaela'. De-a lungul timpului, în urma participării la concursurile internaționale, între anii 1987-1989, a obținut: 2 medalii de aur 🥇, premiul special al juriului, 8 medalii de argint 🥈 și 9 medalii de bronz 🥉 pentru speciile cais, piersic și nectarin și Marele Premiu de la Frankfurt pentru piersic. În țară a obținut: 10 medalii de aur 🥇, 12 medalii de argint 🥈 și 15 medalii de bronz 🥉, la concursuri naționale de cais și piersic. Acesta este doar o aducere-aminte pentru cei care știau aceste date, dar și o aducere în atenție pentru cine nu cunoaște istoria și tradiția pe care o poartă pe umeri SCDP Băneasa-București. Cu forțele proaspete ale actualei echipe de cercetători aflați la început de drum, dar și cu priceperea și cunoașterea celor mai vechi 🧪, încercăm să ne ridicăm la nivelul cerințelor și tendințelor din contextul actual al cercetării.
