Geozs - Geological Survey Of Slovenia
The Geological Survey of Slovenia (Geološki zavod Slovenije - GeoZS) is a multidisciplinary public research institute that operates in various fields of geoscience and conducts basic research and applied activities in Slovenia and abroad, as well as public services in support of the operation of the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union. The GeoZS acquires, stores, interprets and makes available geological data required by the state and society. We are engaged in research on both national and international levels and cooperate with similar organisations in Slovenia and abroad. The GeoZS takes an active part in various EU programmes focused on sustainable living, climate action, as well as efficient and sustainable use of resources and raw materials. We work hard to provide universal accessibility and application of expert knowledge in the society and the economy, transfer research results into practical application, popularise science, spread scientific culture, and raise public awareness. The GeoZS aims for its name to become synonymous with the knowledge of everything that can be found beneath the Earth’s surface. While our top priority is research, we are also creating an environment that will allow efficient transfer of theoretical knowledge into practice, both in Slovenia and abroad. In the long run, three research programmes will continue to form the core of our research: Regional Geology, Groundwater & Geochemistry, and Mineral Resources.

We are provider of innovative solutions for visual control of temperature and for registration of their changes in the past. In general, our product is a smart label with temperature-sensitive chromogenic material, printed in an arbitrary form which change colour if passing the defined temperature. The changes are seen by naked eye or registered by video camera, thus no electric supply or IT network is required. The products in MyCol’s portfolio are unique and have plenty of freedom on including design- and visual messages and assure control of different temperatures. With this we are able to assist in situations where overheating above the prescribed temperature should be noted in repeatable (reversible) or single (irreversible) way. Mystera Colorum transmits high-tech knowledge from materials science directly into high added value products. Our research of thermochromic materials belongs to the world top in this field, which gives the team a strong reference and recognition.

Kemijski Inštitut - National Institute Of Chemistry
Fields of activity Research Basic and applied research are oriented towards fields which are of long-term importance to both Slovenia and the world: biotechnology, environmental protection, structural and theoretical chemistry, analytical chemistry, materials research, and chemical engineering, through which the institute is in line with the needs of the domestic chemical, pharmaceutical, tire, and food industries. The work of the Institute is also in line with the priority thematic areas of the EU Research and Innovation programme Horizon 2020, which places an emphasis on genomics and biotechnology for health, nanotechnology, quality and safety of food, as well as nutrition, sustainable development, and global change. Education Currently 74 graduate students are being trained at the Institute within the national Young Researchers Program for the acquisition of their PhD degrees. The young researchers represent about 25% of the Institute's staff members, making National Institute of Chemistry one of the leading Slovenian organizations for graduate-level education and training. Cooperation with industry Research is oriented towards the development of new technologies and products, which will help to ensure the long-term development of Slovenia and which are internationally relevant. Industry is an important partner to the Institute in these endeavors. There are a number of Slovenian companies with whom the Institute has entered into close long-term cooperation, as well as a number of well-regarded foreign companies. From a financial point of view, this kind of cooperation represents 20% of the income of the Institute.

Agricultural Institute of Slovenia is a public research institute founded in 1898 making it the oldest institution of its kind in Slovenia. It is a non-profit state institution rendering a public service. The founder, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, exercises its founder rights through three ministries: the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, and the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning. The Institute is registered for the performance of the following activities: basic, applied, and developmental research; expert tasks determined by law; laboratory and infrastructure services; supervision and control of the quality of agricultural products and products used in agriculture; consultancy; training and postgraduate education of researchers; publication of the findings and results of its research, expert, and control tasks and sales of own marketing products. The Institute performs its activity within 13 departments and an independent Service for Official Certification of Seed and Plant Propagation Material. The Institute also houses a library and an INDOC centre with more than books of specialised literature.

Elektroinstitut Milan Vidmar (EIMV) is the leading Slovenian engineering and scientific research organisation acting in the area of electric power engineering and was established in 1948. From the economic and technological perspective, it addresses the issues of generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. The experts at the institute prepare feasibility and implementation studies, expert reports, they implement technological, environmental and other analyses, inspect the quality and operation of electric power systems and facilities as required by electric power utilities, ministries and national as well as regional authorities.
