Wasa
WASA (Watercolor Art Southern Africa) is a voluntary organisation with the mission to support watermedia artists across Southern Africa in the following ways: EDUCATION | by connecting students with teachers and organising demos and workshops EXHIBITIONS | national and international opportunities to exhibit artwork SUPPLIES | by working with regional art distributors and retailers to improve access to watermedia supplies COMMUNITY | creating new artist friendships to encourage and support each other PROMOTION | using social media and physical events to promote member artists WASA welcomes all watermedia such as transparent watercolor, gouache, acrylic, casein, and ink. We believe that art should be inclusive. Freedom to experiment is vital to artists. We would hate for an artist working in watercolor feel like they were not welcome because they added some accents in ink. Members of other art organisations are welcome to join and we are happy to share non-WASA events and competitions that would be of benefit to our members. WASA exists to support artists, not to exclude other art organisations. If another society is benefitting an artist, we hope to provide them even more opportunities. WASA exists not for profit but as a voluntary association to benefit artists. We work to keep costs for artists low. We use event entry fees toward exhibition costs and give cash awards because we know that artists now more than ever need financial support more than a printed certificate. Membership is FREE. Absolute beginners and artists of all skill levels are welcome.

Arts & Culture Trust
The Arts and Culture Trust has been actively serving the arts and culture sector in all 9 provinces of South Africa for 30 years. The value of this legacy lies not only in the longevity and sustainability of the organisation, but the fact that the organisation prides itself in keeping up with trends across the arts sector and therefore includes emerging disciplines that are critical to the future survival and growth of the industry. Although the ACT was known as the Arts and Culture Trust of the President when it opened its doors in 1994, it now functions completely independent of government as a registered non-profit organisation. Not only does the majority of its support come from the private sector and ACT’s investment portfolio, but the organisation is an influencer in the sector, with a reputation that lends credibility to the initiatives and organisations it becomes involved with.

Lamb
This is a little bit of magic that I would like to share with you. LAMB was started in November 2013 with a love for all types of stationery, design, and beautiful notebooks. The problem I found when shopping for a notebook that had all the above qualities were that they seemed over commercialized, the ‘personal’ aspect was not there and they were darn expensive. So what did I do? I started making personalised stationery myself. LAMB was created with one aspect in mind: To make beautiful stationery that could be personalised for anyone. These notebooks had to be of the best possible quality and at an affordable price. The passion that LAMB has for finding the beauty in simple things is what makes the designs of the notebooks so original. LAMB offers notebooks, list pads, celebration, congratulations and thank you cards, invitations, wedding planners, scrapbooks and many more – if you can see it we will make it.

The Happy Hippy
When you think of a hippie, what are the first assumptions that come to mind? Peace, love, freedom, Woodstock, bandannas, tie-dye… But what would a wise hippie have to say? Try something new. Experience the unknown, to see if you succeed on such a path. Many hippies traveled an unbeaten; unknown path and some were successful in their endeavors, finding the wings they needed to fly. Those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music. The Happy Hippy is a pop up stall for all. The young and old. Bringing the past to the future.

Els & Co. Fine Leather Craftsmen
When investing in an Els & Co. product you are not only buying a top end leather item, you’re also buying into a belief that we can all make a difference, one small bit at a time. Els & Co. is a small leather studio nestled on the foot of the Simonsberg mountain range in Stellenbosch. The drive up to where we are based in “The Old Dairy” on Rustenberg Wine Farm is truly idyllic; green pastures, grazing cows, old oak trees and the hustle and bustle of a working farm. As you finally walk through the doors of our studio you will find the welcoming smell of leather and beeswax and hear a lively chatter coming from the craftswomen happily stitching away at the next extraordinary leather product. The backbone, heart and soul of Els & Co. is our incredible team of Xhosa craftswomen who have been trained from scratch and now have the skills to run the entire production process from start to finish. Each product is entirely handmade by a single craftswoman; from dyeing the leather, cutting the stitching groove, bevelling the edges, moulding the leather, drilling each stitching hole and finally hand stitching the product. Upon completion each product is proudly embossed with her initials. It’s become our mission to build a company that does not only produce exceptional leather products, but also one that cultivates a strong social conscience. By giving one woman an opportunity to uplift herself, we know it’s an entire family that will benefit from it, and so slowly, one woman at a time, an entire community is uplifted - making a genuinely notable difference. As we continue to grow, knowledge gets transferred from one craftswoman to the next as they train each newcomer. We believe that this strong thread of sustainability that runs through our company DNA will ensure that we will still be here 100 years from now, uplifting women.

Aiden Taillard Art
I was born in Cape Town in the Strand, Western Cape on 15 July 1990. I matriculated in 2009. In 2010 I enrolled to study a three year Graphic Design Diploma course at the Andrew Owen School of Art in the Cape Town, Somerset West. After completing my studies I found work at a printing company in Somerset West. This was my first job. I tried my hand at several endeavours, ranging from airbrushing to painting on clothing, but non of them were really successful. Staying in Cape Town I worked in various graphic design companies and I also found work as a freelance illustrator and did a lot of work in the Master Maths Head Office learning books. All along I was painting in my spare time. In 2018 I decided to focus entirely on my painting. The first year was extremely tough, I made no money. I also took up freelance graphic design. At least some money was coming in and I was surviving. I was always a very loose painting artist and I enjoy the freedom o this style. I am still researching and finding new ways to express new areas in my art career. I focus on creating expressions and emotions in art on a fairly large format in oils and acrylics. Many of my works now adorn in my home and galleries.

Canvas Academy
Canvas Academy is a progressive art center that runs a series of digital art workshops. We equip traditional artists with the foundations of digital art principles that are responsible for the visual direction of animated feature films, games and comics. Over the last few decades digital art has become the world standard for visualising the media of tomorrow. Its ability to dramatically speed up any creative pipeline, as well as provide fail-safes and undo's which are not possible with analog media, has cemented the digital domain’s superiority in the global commercial arts community. Without a doubt the ability to work speedily and effectively to produce industry-defining artwork in a digital arena is paramount to any artist wanting to excel in a career in the ever-expanding fields of television, film, animation, gaming, and online media. Yet, digital drawing is still sometimes perceived a daunting, even alienating, discipline for young and seasoned analog artists alike. Artists often find it difficult to find a solid starting point in digital art and rightly become discouraged when this happens. The aim of the Digital Drawing & Painting course is to promote digital drawing for the new generation by demystifying its tools and techniques. Tried and tested traditional drawing techniques will be taught for the digital medium, utilising software packages such as Adobe Photoshop which allows for a vibrancy and precision in colour and composition which analog media cannot provide. Students will be taught how to bring canvasses of pixels to life through the use of Wacom and XP Pen drawing tablets, under the constant guidance of industry professionals. And when the day’s work is done, simply save your work. No paper, no turpentine, and no mess. By starting right, and at a comfortable learning pace, the transition form analog to digital drawing and painting will open up a new world of visual artistry and set a solid foundation for your future career.
