MEGA story started in 2004, when raised the necessity of available engineering capacity within the DAMEN Group, and Schelde Naval Shipbuilding took the decision to set up a new engineering company in Galati, within the Damen Shipyard area, named MARINE ENGINEERING Galati, well known as MEGA. The first team - six hull and piping engineers - started in April 2004 and was followed by other small teams at every five – six months. In the next four years MEGA has grown in size, but also in performance. Following the DAMEN Group Top Management decision, in July 2008 MEGA took over almost half of the engineers of the Engineering Department of DAMEN Galati Shipyard and reached up to 65 employees. Nowadays, MEGA is a modern engineering company specialized in engineering for shipbuilding, mainly providing detailed engineering packages for mechanical, structure, arrangements and outfitting, FEM, ILS and Data Engineering Support activities, performing also inclining tests, with almost 200 people, from which more than 90% are direct structure & steel outfitting or mechanical/ electrical/ HVAC engineers, Project Managers, Project Coordinators and Team Leaders, working in modern offices spaces, in 2 modern office buildings.

Located in the southern part of Giurgiu City – Romania, Shipyard ATG Giurgiu has direct access to the Danube River, which offers the perfect environment for constructing and launching ships including repairs for both inland and sea-going vessels. ATG has direct access to the Black Sea, through the Danube - Black Sea Channel and to North Sea / Rotterdam through the Danube, Rheine-Main channel. The Shipyard has a steel manufacturing capacity of up to 800 / 900 tones per month, approximate tones of steel per year and a capacity of 1.500 tones of aluminium per year. The shipyard is equipped with a vertical transfer equipment called the syncrolift. The equipment is endowed with a mobile platform, driven by a hydraulic system working in phases, which assures a safety launching and docking platform. The platform was design and built for maritime and naval ships, having the following maximum features: Length: 110 meters; Width: 17,5 meters; Weight: 3.500 tons; The Ships are transferred from the assembly hull through a transfer railway system, which has a surface of square meters.
