Oman Cricket
Oman Cricket was formed in 1979 with Mr. Kanaksi G. Khimji as President and the other founder members. The first Patron in Chief was the Late H.H. Sayyid Abbas Bin Faisal. Oman is currently the 38th associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and has International Status in Twenty20 from 2015-2017. The current Patron in Chief is the H.H. Said Haitham Bin Tarik Al Said. Oman became an affiliate member of the ICC and associate members of the ACC in Oman’s senior international debut came at the 2002 ACC Trophy. In 2007, Oman was the joint winner of ACC Twenty20 Cup. This was followed up by runners-up positions at the ICC World Cricket League Division 2, 2007 and the ACC U-17 Challenge Cup, 2008. 2009 & 2010 years were successful with wins in the ACC Trophy Challenge, 2009 and the ACC U-16 Challenge Cup, 2010. man participated at the 2016 World Twenty20 in India, and also at the 2016 Asia Cup Qualifier and performed admirably. Entering as unknowns and massive underdogs, Oman made headlines on the biggest stage by beating Ireland in their first match. The lessons learnt in their defeats in the hands of UAE and Afghanistan held them in good stead during the crunch situations and led to an unprecedented victory. The WT20 marked the first time any sporting team from Oman has represented the nation is a Global World Cup sporting event. The boys did the nation proud on the world stage. Even though they lost to Bangladesh in their final league match, causing them to bow out of the event – it was by no means a failure. The exposure gained by playing at the elite level and taste of the Cricket at its highest level has only further fueled the fire to reach those heights again.

Al Mouj Golf in Muscat, Oman has been voted No. 2 in the Top Ten Golf Courses in the Middle East. It has a magnificent 18 hole, par 72, PGA standard Championship Golf Course, designed by Greg Norman. Oman Desert Marathon
Born in 2013, the Oman Desert Marathon is a self-sufficient 165 km race with four stages, including a night stage, across the spectacular Omani landscape and its varieties, from the Oasis Al Wasil, crossing the desert to Al Jawharat Resort. The race ensures the participant a unique experience in the popular well-known, most beautiful country of the Arabian Peninsula. Runners are required to carry all their equipment, sleeping bag, as well as everything they need for four days, except for water that will be provided at the checkpoints every 10 km. Although it is a huge challenge for the runner to run all this 165 km, it is essential to experience the authentic desert life. The Oman Desert Marathon offers the utmost in safety and personal attention to all runners, by continuously monitoring the runners so that they do not feel lonely in the desert, ensuring that everyone is on the right track and providing assistance quickly if required. Oman Desert Marathon is organized by an integrated Omani crew, the collaboration of international partners and with full support of the government and the civil and local sectors: to give the athletes a sense of security and reassurance with the hospitality and Omani simplicity throughout this epic race. The four stages of the marathon are considered by many international and professional runners as a training and preparation stage for similar desert marathons with longer distances, and of course it is also the perfect choice for the less experienced runner who wants to experience the magic of life in the desert without running long distances. Oman Desert Marathon is not only a race, but it is also an event that joins many people from the local community and that expresses the love of the people for Oman. Our goal is to welcome all the participants with the legendary Omani hospitality and to give to all our runners the possibility to live a fantastic experience in the Omani Desert.

Alamerat challenge is a road race the most difficult and the most challenging and exciting in the Middle East, on track in the winding mountain road and for a distance of 9 km, where expected more than 900 athlete male & female. The idea of a ” Alamerat Challenge Race ” to give a chance to all society to participate for the race, making exercise behavioral self to community members when ready to compete, as well as awareness of the benefits of sport and the selection of proper nutrition. Sportsmanship was highly competitive, which formed an atmosphere during the 1st version of the challenge. Attractive cash prizes for the winners, addition to awards to all who will complete the challenge, a huge media coverage and special sporting event will be held on finish line, February 14, 2015. Our vision to award cash prizes to Omani sports clubs & teams from privet sectors as well in a team racing for top ranking. This is a call for all the champions & athletes to compete for the 2nd title, the title in the history of the toughest road races in the region.
