Tanzania - China Friendship Textile Company Limited (FTC) is a joint venture company between the governments of the United Republic of Tanzania owning 49% shares and the People’s Republic of China who owns 51% shares. Before this divestiture program of the company, FTC was known as Friendship Textile Mills Ltd ‘URAFIKI’ It was established in 1966 as a pastoral with all 100% shares owned by the Government of United Republic of Tanzania. FTC is an integrated textile manufacturing company with spinning, weaving and processing functions. It has about 1,092 looms with installed capacity to print and dye 33 million meters of different types of cloth per year. The current capacity of production is around 3 million meters different types of cloth per year. FTC is currently engaged in both Core and Noncore – Activities. Core activities involve production and sells of various types of fabrics and while Noncore activities involves renting of assets (Houses and Land) and Digital printing for earning additional income.
