The LUMS eMobility Research and Development Center aims to: • Facilitate faster adoption of electric vehicles in Pakistan and achieve country targets for EV sales by 2030 • Reduce Pakistan's carbon footprint and urban air pollution by eliminating vehicular exhaust emissions • Decrease Pakistan's reliance on imported fossil fuels for the transportation sector • Provide latest technological trends and market information to Pakistan's emerging EV industry • Support the development of EV related manufacturing, policies, regulations, and standards suitable for Pakistan • Provide technical services and quality assurance certification to local EV firms to help reduce startup and manufacturing costs OUR VISION To become Pakistan's premiere resource for EV technology development, testing, and calibration services OUR MISSION A GREENER ENVIRONMENT Through our initiatives, we strive to minimize polluting emissions, improve energy efficiency, and promote a healthier and greener environment for all The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), in partnership with USAID Power Sector Improvement Activity (PSIA), has established an eMobility Research and Development (R&D) Center that aims to serve as a cutting-edge facility dedicated to battery and motor testing for electric vehicles in Pakistan. The Center’s primary goal is to combat the increasing climate crisis in Pakistan. The transport sector, a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions and urban air pollution, predominantly relies on gasoline-powered vehicles, resulting in deteriorating air quality, increasing respiratory problems, and rising oil import bills. This grant assistance has been made possible by the support of the American people through USAID.
