It offers a range of day or overnight kayaking or mountain biking adventures or riverboat cruises along a 60km stretch of the Mekong River, staying in these river communities, or camping overnight on a beach beside the rain forest. With no cars, roads, phones, or distributed electricity it's an authentic experience for even travel weary adventurers. Income derived is used to support education in these remote river communities, along with creating tourism jobs. We are the only kayaking company to run adventure tours over this stretch of the river, as we have been operating in the area for over 12 years supporting better education by building and supplying schools. We are an elephant sanctuary and resort based in Luang Prabang, Laos PDR. We take elephants that have previously worked in the logging industry and give them an easier and safer life. Whilst we are not a charity, we are an ethical business and care passionately for the elephants in our care. This passion for care also extends to our staff and the surrounding villages where we operate. We support the local economies from directly employing villagers for our camp, to other indirect ways such as buying the food for our elephants from their farms. We work with many travel agents and tour operators around Laos as well as getting a significant amount of business from our sales offices in Luang Prabang and our website, which is constantly maintained and updated. We offer two different experiences depending on budget and desire. Elephant Village which accounts for most of our business, involves different tours from riding in the elephant seat, to sitting on their necks and bathing them in the Namkhan River. Shangri-Lao is our more exclusive tour option for people who want something a bit more unique and less crowded. It offers a chance to stay overnight in our luxury cabins in the middle of the jungle and takes a slightly different route on our elephants through the jungle. Both options offer half day, full day and overnight tours to give a wide variety of options to any agent or customer wanting to try elephant riding in Laos.
