Siphofaneni Irrigation District Sid
Siphofaneni Irrigation District (SID) is a statutory entity established in terms of the National Water Act no. 7 of 2003 and a subdivision of the National Government under MNRE, DWA (Decentralisation). SID was formed in 2007 and was originally gazetted in 2009. Its main purposes are to control the operations and maintenance of all water works in the district and is involved in the enforcement of adherence to water regulations (Water Act and Policy). The entity is lawfully authorized to take reasonable and legal measures to avoid misuse and wastage of water. As well it levies and collect tariffs, rates as per water pricing.
