Taranaki Offshore Partnership
Our vision is that offshore wind provides transformational and scalable clean energy for future generations of New Zealanders. For that, we are investigating the feasibility of a large offshore wind farm off the coast of South Taranaki. We envisage the wind farm being located roughly 25km offshore – just visible over the horizon on a clear day. With up to 70 of the most powerful wind turbines available on the market (almost as tall as the Sky Tower in Auckland!) the farm could power homes and satisfy around 10% of Aotearoa’s electricity demand. We are working hard on studying and understanding the community and environment of South Taranaki to start developing mitigation plans and minimising impacts.
