Spier Wine Farm
Like each new vine in our vineyard, the idea of Spier has been carefully nurtured over time. While our farm's roots stretch back to 1692, making it one of South Africa's oldest, it truly flourished and found its distinct character when the Enthoven family took the helm in 1993. Like all good farmers, we started by regenerating the soil and cultivating the harmonious, full-of-life farm that is Spier today. Be it the world-class wine we craft in our cellar or the healthy animals we keep on the farm, no stone is left unturned in our commitment to goodness. Our hotel, tucked amidst 21 heritage Cape Dutch gables and showcasing one of South Africa's largest contemporary art collections, serves as a restorative retreat. Our award-winning wines are sold worldwide, and our farm restaurants and experiences attract visitors from far and wide daily. People are undoubtedly at the heart of what we do. Our Growing For Good initiatives nurture positive social and environmental change. From art, education, and entrepreneurship to regenerative farming and ecological restoration, various projects and partnerships like Tree-preneurs and the Living Soils Community Learning Farm help foster growth and transformation. Our transparent supply chain supports local communities and the environment, shaping a brighter future for South African wine. We stand by our Ethical Code and are proud to meet leading local and global ethical standards like WIETA and amfori BSCI. Our wines and initiatives continue to clinch esteemed global accolades, including the Amorim Biodiversity Award in 2019 and the Ethical Award in 2022 from The Drinks Business Green Awards - a rare honour. Simonsvlei Winery Official
The name Simonsvlei originates from the founder of the South African wine Industry, Simon van der Stel, and from the area’s vlei (wetlands) landscape. Simon van der Stel was the Cape Governor representing the Dutch government during the 17th century. This far-sighted gentleman selected this unique location, because he realised soon enough that the area’s cool microclimate was ideal for producing quality grapes. He must have realised too that the prevailing winds blowing across the vlei or wetland would naturally cool the cellar and the wine in the barrels – ideal conditions for making quality wines!

His vision, the pursuit of quality, extended out of the cellar and into the vineyards where varieties would excel and best express a particular style of wine reflective of their environment. Today, the experience and knowledge of the past are applied to modern techniques and technologies for a new generation of winemaking.

This sprawling country estate, crowned by a Manor House which overlooks manicured indigenous gardens, wild fynbos, dipping valleys and towering hills, serves as a unique, working wine farm where imagination meets skill. Harry Hartman Wine Company
We are a group of friends who share an obsession with wine. We have a deep, and passionate love for the Cape, her terroir and the talents and the character of her people. All of these have inspired us to showcase and share with our friends, both at home and abroad, what we believe to be some of the Cape's most extraordinary wines, stories and personalities. We aim to have a positive impact on the wine industry in everything we do, paying proper attention to sustainability wherever we can. Success for us means growing a thriving business, in a flourishing industry successfully applying the philosophy of "Do no harm". Or as the Three Wise Monkeys say: See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. Our business started in 2019 when our founders, Sean “Harry” Harrison and Marcel Hartman, decided to share some of their favourite wine produced in the Cape and beautifully labelled by Sean. They soon realised they needed more - more wine, more money, more talented hands on deck - to grow the brand and the business into a full range of wine showcasing the depth and variety of the Cape's terroir. Enter Simon, Stan and Jen. Together, we are more. Two wines were initially produced under the Harry Hartman label - a Bordeaux styled red blend from Stellenbosch, and a Shiraz from the Cederberg and Stellenbosch areas. It has since grown to a range of eight wines. We plan to remain a boutique-styled operation that creates small, impeccably-crafted batches.
