Direkt36
Direkt36 is a non-profit investigative journalism center in Hungary with the mission to expose wrongdoings and abuse of power through fair but tough reporting, a kind of journalism that is vital for any democracy. We provide the Hungarian and international audience with in-depth accountability reporting that most of the Hungarian media outlets do not have the resources to pursue. Direkt36 is not part of the competition of news organizations covering daily events, which allows us to focus our resources exclusively on conducting systematic investigations. We actively participate in the work of a growing international investigative journalism community and we publish all of our stories – which often have international implications – also in English.

Sos Gyermekfalvak
SOS Children’s Villages works in 136 countries to support families and help children at risk grow up in a loving home. In a world filled with poverty, violence, and injustice, the greatest victims are often children. For more than 70 years, we have worked with partners in each community to either help families care for their children or to provide an alternative, for instance an SOS family, in which the love of a carer is essential. Everything we do is based on the best interests of the child, and each has an individual development plan. We focus on the care, health, education and general development of each individual. Uniquely, we provide practical support over the long term, so that each child or young person can develop resilient relationships and face life’s challenges in the future. In turn, this strengthens communities and the whole of society. We also speak up on behalf of children to governments and international organisations, striving to end violations of children’s rights and improve living conditions worldwide. To do everything we do, we need the support of partners and donors to give thousands of vulnerable children a loving home and a second chance just to be a child. SOS Children’s Villages has been working in Hungary since the 1980s. The work of SOS Children’s Villages has continued to grow due to the increasing number of vulnerable children in the country. The first SOS Children’s Village opened in 1986 in Battonya, and is currently running 8 programmes (SOS Children’s Villages, Youth Facilities, Short term care centre) thus caring for a total of 400 children and young people, ensuring that they grow up in safety and respect, becoming well-balanced and happy adults.

Mahatma Gandhi Human Rights Organization
Our organization started to work following the example of Gandhi: the Indian leader had become famous by fighting against racism and discrimination in South Africa for over twenty years, advocating for civil rights using non-violence and civil disobedience. After returning to India in 1915, the Mahatma („Great Soul”) emerged as the leader of his people in combating injustice and loudly demanding independence from the British Empire – finally gained in 1947, always practicing non-violent resistance. Gandhi was assassinated in 1948, but his ability to inspire millions of common people continues today: his birthday, October 2nd, is commemorated world-wide as the International Day of Non-Violence. Over the years, while working to combat racism and discrimination, our organization has implemented a number of projects, spacing from legal aid and counseling for migrants and refugees in Hungary to organizing African festivals and cultural events, to workshops and trainings on the Roma community and African culture, discrimination, tolerance and diversity in Budapest high schools. In this framework, we have always given a special attention to sport –mainly football- as a mean to fight discrimination and overcome communication difficulties among different people. In 1994 the Mahatma Gandhi Human Rights Organization was the first organization that created the African Stars football team, a team whose players are only refugees and migrants. The team participated in several tournaments and won a number of prizes, including first place in 2006 at the World Cup Against Racism tournment held every year in Italy. We enthusiastically partner with other international, governmental and non-governmental organizations who share our vision and goals to eradicate discrimination and human rights abuses, working to promote tolerance and to uphold human dignity and the rights of all people.

Climate Game On
People from 8 Central European countries don't want climate change ending the game so they joined together to raise awareness about how much we can contribute to sustainability by making correct individual decisions. The project has been deliberately given the name ‘Game ON’, as over the next four years a number of playful activities are going to bring a sustainable lifestyle closer to the people. Geocaching, creating a board game, making awareness-raising videos, improvisation theatre plays and developing an own smartphone application are all among the plans, providing help in answering unresolved questions to keep the game alive with conscious decisions. All this is done to bring the main topics of the project - biodiversity, adaptation to climate change and climate justice - as close to the people as possible. The goal is to connect the individuals and organizations who play their own role in the game and support them in creating new rules in Central-Europe.

Glocovo Ltd
Volunteering is an altruistic activity where an individual or group provides services for no financial gain. It is the same work as at any other workplace, only the “salary” is different. Besides altruism and moral recognition, organisations working with volunteers have the possibility to reward voluntary work with reimbursements, different vouchers, travelling, trainings and so on. We, the developer of GLOCOVO think these types of reward cannot build up the prestige volunteering deserves. Why? Voluntary work is great experience, knowledge and value that has never been actually emphasised up until now. Our objective is to promote the setting up of such a rating and classification system in the non-profit and social sector that has already been present in the for-profit sector, a system that transforms social responsibility and voluntary work a real, measurable and exact value.

Mars Autism Foundation
Even the most optimistic estimates find, that every 100th child is born with autism. Most of the institutions, where the diagnosis is given, neither have the time, nor the appropriate methods or practices to support and inform the families about their opportunities. Mars Foundation for Autism aims to help these families not to feel left alone in this maze. It was found to support families that raise autistic children or adults. In comparison with other mental illnesses, autism is a relatively new mental state. Day by day, new, miraculous treatments, advice, ideas and methodologies appear on how to treat autism. For parents, finding the right piece of information in this labyrinth, is almost impossible. Families often start expensive therapies that may cause more harm than good. The Foundation offers information and solutions that are proven by several research, and are successfully used all around the world. Moreover, it provides a professional blog with further information and opportunity to consult on how to choose the right nursery school, school or workplace in this special situation.

Nane Women's Rights Association
Since its establishment in 1994, NANE Association has operated as a politically independent, non-profit, public benefit organisation. Guided by a human rights approach, NANE consistently affirms that women’s rights are human rights. The organisation recognises violence against women as a pervasive, structural and global phenomenon that transcends social, economic and national boundaries. It understands this violence as a consequence of power imbalances between women and men – an extreme form of gender-based discrimination. Eliminating such violence is essential to achieving social equality. These principles form the foundation of NANE’s work and shape its strategic objectives. Today, NANE’s professional activities extend across individual, community and societal levels – from direct support to victims, to prevention, awareness-raising and systemic advocacy. NANE’s primary objective is to improve the conditions of victims of violence against women and to contribute to a world free from such violence. While the state bears responsibility for providing effective support and prevention, these services often remain insufficient. NANE therefore steps in to offer emotional, mental and informational assistance directly to victims, using a professionally grounded, feminist and trauma-focused approach that centres their rights and needs. Beyond individual support, the Association works to strengthen Hungary’s social and educational systems, legislation and law enforcement in their efforts to prevent and respond to violence. By drawing on the lived experiences of those affected and advocating for their interests, NANE promotes gender equality and advances prevention through education, awareness-raising and knowledge dissemination.

Qlit
Why “qLit”? We wanted to choose a name which indicates our key intention: to build community for women, specifically for lesbians*, hence the letter L. Since it has been important for us from the start to address both Hungarians and foreigners,"clit" seemed like an obvious match. In addition to capitalizing the L, we added another twist by changing the "c" to "q", thus underlining our connection to the queer community as well. So the name of the magazine, qLit (pronounced as "clit"), was born. But what is qLit? The Hungarian lesbian* magazine. Community, information, entertainment, worldview and life in the lesbian* way. The asterix (*) after the word “lesbian” is because our stories are aimed not exclusively to lesbians but to all women loving women (WLW). We believe that our articles help today’s LGBTQ+ women and girls to lay fresh eyes on things surrounding them. Just like the lesbian* community, our team is also diverse. Among us you can find marketing experts, graphic designers, copywriters, translators, architects, researcher, artists, IT experts and so. However, one thing definitely bonds us together: we all are open people who like to think and are eager to create. We believe that it is worth talking openly about topics that concern all of us, and we have faith in our readers who are partners in this conversation.
