Catalyst For Change Vietnam - C4c

Our programs serve urban and rural families through educational and business support. With a focus on serving marginalized women such as low-income women, ethnic minorities, women in rural areas, domestic violence survivors, single mothers, and disabled women, we help remove the obstacles that prevent these disadvantaged groups from achieving success and gender equality within their communities and within Vietnam. Through our educational and business campaigns, we offer free vocational training, job placement, free and low-cost English classes for women and children, online and offline support groups, mental health awareness, business support, and online lessons. Our campaigns focus on building life skills and providing training that increases independence and fair opportunities. Officially established in December 2015, C4C now offers a wide range of services related to education and business within Vietnam through two programs: 1. Teach for Change connects international English teaching volunteers with our partner schools and English centers. In alignment with the women-empowering mission of Coins for Change–TFC’s founder organization–we focus on supporting female-led schools and English centers across Vietnam. Through this program, we are able to provide English language services to women and children across Vietnam, particularly those in the countryside, who would otherwise not have access to them. Teach for Change offers them free or low-cost access to English classes and other educational enhancement and literacy programs. The Empowerment Plan aims to support disadvantaged women from multiple demographics in Vietnam, including low-income women, single mothers, disabled women, ethnic minority women, domestic violence victims, and others. We provide holistic support to women through an expansive online network, free vocational training, job placement, online and offline support groups, business opportunities, and free or low-cost English classes.

Hanoi Queer Organization

In recent years, the movement of LGBTQ rights in Vietnam is developing and the social attitude has been changed in favor of queer people. Understanding that the development of queer culture within the community is also important, three young activists who shared the same vision, met and formed Hanoi Queer in June 2015. Hanoi Queer is a community organization working towards a future where LGBTQ people are treated equally in terms of education, culture, and society through a series of activities including connecting spaces, promoting culture, and building capacity for the LGBTQ community. Starting from 2015, we have held more than 50 activities and projects that reached more than people every year in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Our activities including community meet-ups (QueerNest & Queer Gatherings), history exhibitions (Vietnam Queer History Month), networks of LGBTQ-friendly spaces (Queer Zone), as well as other social events and campaigns that helped enable the LGBTQ community to have more safe spaces to share and learn about themselves and their community, to be encouraged and supported to live proudly and overcome social prejudices. We are also proud to have taken part in the Organizing Committee of Hanoi Pride from 2016 and received many prestigious awards. We were honored to receive the title “Organization of the Year” in 2015 and “Initiative of the Year” in 2018 from the “Vietnam LGBTI+ Appreciation” annual awards organized by ICS Center. Additionally, we were awarded “Third Place” and “Ambassador” title from “Youth Driver For Change” award by CSDS. Hanoi Queer's core team members are 5 young queer activists, supported by 50 volunteers aged 18-30, most of whom live in Hanoi and HCMC. Our team is diverse in terms of sexuality, expertise, hobbies, personalities, interests, work experiences. Hanoi Queer team shares the same goal and vision in contributing to the development of the queer community.

1500+ children from among 30+ orphanages have joined Kidspire programs in Vietnam. This project started with the objective to offer high quality digital literacy and STEM programming to children living in Vietnamese orphanages - programs that these children did not have opportunities to otherwise access. Over the years, we've added additional programs to help students stay in school, finish high school, apply to University, and explore internships with employers offering opportunities for ongoing personal and professional growth and development. At our core, we maintain 2 core beliefs: 1) STEM education, when done well, with a student-centered approach, engages students and helps them to develop important interdisciplinary skills while also developing critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity - all important skills that also help develop confidence in our students. 2) All children deserve opportunities to access high quality STEM education programs and have the chance to equip themselves with skills that can open doors to meaningful professional careers. Ngay Mai Helpline

Ngay Mai helpline is a community project, a free listening service that supports people who have mental health issues, especially those having suicidal thoughts and suicidal attempts. The helpline operators will be present, listen with empathy, and no judgment to help the caller get through a tough time on time. Helpline does not yet have a purpose to replace long-term counseling and psychotherapy services but will provide information in our network of sponsor centers, professional consultants for individuals problems. Besides that, we raise public awareness of mental health through professional articles and spreading helpline information in public. Ngay Mai which is called Tomorrow in English created from the idea that "Tomorrow is a new day". As a promise before hang up, the helpline operator will engage the caller about the return call on tomorrow or a time in the future when the caller need supported. In a hard time, people who have mental health problems will rebelieve in life if knowing that someone out there is waiting for their call and listening to their story.

We are a non-profit, student-led organization promoting long-term, sustainable development for the impoverished, ethnic minority community of Bản Liền commune in Lào Cai province. The focus of our work is on improving access to education, investing in human capital in order to break the poverty cycle. However, investments do not yield returns overnight; thus, our approach to development is that of long-term partnership to the community that we aid. Our long-term goal is to expand our reach towards many other communities with circumstances similar to Ban Lien, helping to improve the quality of life for the underprivileged ethnic minorities across rural Vietnam.
