thāllo is a project run by seveneleven non-profit company. A product of more than 10 years of experience with elders in care homes, it's a unique non-pharmacological psychosocial intervention especially designed for elders and people living with dementia on and off care home environments while it also aims at the support of caregivers. The program is an amalgam of discussion sessions, multisensory activities, reinvented games, our Isolated Listening Method and virtual reality experiences. It is based on our “principle of associative thinking” model which promotes the cognitive, social and emotional engagement of the elders through their active participation in the sessions. Through carefully constructed workshops we trigger vivid sentimental reactions that are known to remove thought from pain, reduce stress and help the fight against depression. Through thāllo the company aims to disseminate the need for a switch of focus to more person-centered approaches that promote well-being and the quality of life both for the people living with dementia and their caregivers while raising awareness and share knowledge on degenerative brain conditions. Seveneleven company has implemented various other projects in the same context including the production of the first Greek theater play based on real stories of people living with dementia and the publication of the book titled “365 days close to the elders”, an analysis of the thāllo method together with over 2.500 stimuli and activities for elders and people living with dementia as well as 103 explanatory diagrams of the approach. It also has active collaborations with the Museum of Cycladic Arts designing original multisensory and virtual reality projects for people living with dementia, the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation Museum of Modern Arts designing a program for people 60+ including those with mild cognitive impairment and the Chios Music Festival devising intergenerational programs.
