Grief Centre
Since 2009 The Grief Centre, has been providing support, resources, community talks, support groups and counselling to help those affected by loss and grief. Losses or changes can shift the whole foundation of our life. Nothing is as it was. Even what was most familiar, seems in a strange way unfamiliar. It is as though we have to learn a new language, a new way of being. Even the face in the mirror sometimes seems the face of a stranger. We are fortunate that we have a team of counsellors who are passionate in helping others and willing to give their time to support the development of the Grief Centre. All our counsellors are specialised in grief and loss, and belong to a professional organisation, adhering to a professional code of ethics. We support every person, regardless of financial circumstance, through their individual loss and grief journey by providing quality counselling and support groups, appropriate training and resources, and effective community engagement. Since 2016 the Centre has run training programs for professionals and community workers who are working with children, young people, adults, and families. These programs were based on paid research into training needs of health professionals and community workers who are supporting clients who’ve experienced some form of loss. In 2019 the Centre will also release a new online training program for work environments such as aged care where workers cannot easily be released for off-site training. All our programs are interactive and practical and will remain affordably priced so that NGO's and volunteer-based organisations can still access them. The Grief Centre’s talks and seminars on loss and grief are conducted by staff that are either clinicians or who have a vast amount of hands-on experience in supporting people through loss.

Nurture Psychology
Welcome to Nurture Psychology: We are a specialist team of Clinical Psychologists based in Parnell Auckland, providing evidence-based treatment for various types of disordered eating. We are passionate about providing high quality, individualised care to our clients and their families, supporting them in their journey toward freedom from an eating disorder. What we offer: We work with children, adolescents and adults across the full range of eating, weight and shape concerns. This includes those that meet diagnostic criteria for an eating disorder such as anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa, and those with less recognised eating disorders such as binge-eating disorder and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder or ARFID (extreme fussy eating). We have a particular focus on early intervention for those with an early form of an eating disorder that may not meet official criteria. This may look like meal skipping, reduction of the amounts or types of food eaten, unexplained weight loss, heightened concern with body shape/size, excessive exercising, or eating large amounts of food in a short period of time. Our focus on these early cases is driven by clear research evidence showing that prompt engagement with specialist treatment results in faster treatment response, and therefore lessened impact on life. In the interest of increasing access to specialist private care, we also offer a low-cost treatment package for those with binge eating and those in larger bodies. Eating disorders rarely occur in isolation. As we aim to support the whole person in their recovery to wellness, we are also skilled in treating concerns that often co-exist with an eating disorder such as anxiety, depression, trauma and perfectionism. We offer psychological treatment for these concerns both in the context of treatment for an eating disorder, and as standalone treatments (where there is no eating disorder).

Te Kurahuna Ltd
Mental Health Leaders need to invest in their workforce. Retention rates are poor, training budgets do not reflect the workforce value, and for too long, the focus on evidence based approaches as the solution is not working. Leaders need to invest in workforce training that focusses on what matters most. Maori are the most impacted group with Maori young males having one of the highest rates of suicide in the developed world. Solutions must prioritise these inequities in order to improve outcomes for all of New Zealand. MDK promise to provide solutions that will invigorate teams and improve overall outcomes by keeping the issues impacting Maori close to their heart. MDK's Mahi a Atua training is focussed on the workforce so that they can focus on their value both personally and professionally. This workforce training will reinvigorate teams and improve outcomes. As an example, Te Kuwatawata is a ground breaking response to working with families in distress and it's point of difference is the Mahi a Atua framework. Their staff are committed to the Mahi a Atua training and the results have been phenomenal; walk in referrals for Maori have tripled, GP referrals for Maori doubled, and youth psychiatric admissions have reduced significantly. To centralise meaning-making, values, culture and understanding has led to a reduction in overdependence on the biomedical model. This has therefore reduced diagnoses, the use of medication and coercive treatment. Click on our website and our facebook page 'Mahi a Atua' and look out for a training near you. Or.contact us here and start the conversation.

Youth In Transition Charitable Trust
Every year around 600 people died by suicide, with over one quarter in Auckland1. Another people think about taking their own life, around make a plan to take their own life, and around actively attempt suicide. New Zealand has one of the highest rates of youth suicide in the world and the work of the Youth in Transition Charitable Trust (YIT) is to turn this around by providing a proven programme for the individual aimed at helping them to live a rich, full and meaningful life. To address the issue of youth suicide, in 2014 Youth In Transition founders developed our uniquely holistic JOURNEY BACK TO AWESOME programme, and our Executive Director has been recognised in 2020 national awards for “outstanding work in suicide prevention”, and in 2023 has been awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to suicide prevention and mental health. The JBA programme is based on experience gained by dealing with at risk youth over the span of over ten years by the Founder/ Director of the charity. The programme goes beyond the traditional approach of just providing medication and counselling, it also includes one-on-one mentoring, peer support groups, a nutrition & exercise programme, and family support modules (including support for parents). This holistic support is essential to successful outcomes enabling our high-risk young clients to transition into a life worth living. The programme is proving to be extraordinarily successful in addressing the needs of young people who are dealing with such issues as low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and suicidal thinking. Importantly, it is delivered in partnership with collaborating agencies and organisations in the community. Youth In Transition operates as a registered charity (Reg No. CC53503). It has functioned as a suicide prevention service since 2014 and has helped over 600 young people, their friends, and families, from the Hibiscus Coast/North Shore areas.
