Up Journalism Club
Founded in 1954, UPJC was formerly under the College of Arts and Sciences with then Dean Armando Malay as its adviser. The organization was born at a time when the potential of exploring communication as an industrial tool was still largely untapped. One of its founding members was writer-activist Jose Maria Sison. Today’s distinguished alumni in the academe, media and politics were once at the forefront of student involvement, at the height of mass actions during the First Quarter Storm. Besides the publication of Krisis, an issue-based newsletter, UPJC actively engaged in the call for an autonomous mass communication institute. When Martial Law was lifted, the club continued to mount campaigns for genuine student representation in the university. Veteran journalist and UPJC alumna Malou Mangahas became chairperson of the newly restored University Student Council in 1986. UPJC's militant beginnings heeded the call for action at the face of a country in turmoil. Today, we remain true to empowering students by tackling pressing issues that concern the university and the nation. We take pride in maintaining widely read publications that showcase both journalistic and literary prowess of our well-rounded members. Beyond the written word, we strive to make the relevant interesting by holding various fora with media practitioners, academicians, students and professionals. The organization’s flagship activity, the Campus Journalism Workshop, has provided trainings for budding journalists nationwide since 1995 in La Union, Bicol, Bacolod, Calabarzon, Cebu and Sulu, among others. Teaching journalism to elementary, high school and now—college students, is our way of contributing to the next generation of Filipino journalists. Towards its 65th year, UP Journalism Club shall continue to pay things forward—by harnessing the audacity of the brave and bold Filipino youth, and their enthusiasm towards pages bound to make another indelible history.

Hands On Manila Hom
Hands On Manila (HOM) Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit, non-sectarian private organization formally established in August 2001. It is the first international affiliate of the Points of Light outside of the US. The flexibility model of volunteer service allows for volunteering to be integrated into the daily schedules of busy individuals. OUR VISION A culture of volunteerism that contributes to nation-building We envision a community where people contribute their time, talent, and resource for sustainable development. MISSION To become the volunteer organization of choice for community-driven programs. To be thought leaders of innovative solutions to development challenges Programs Hands On Manila’s programs are community-driven and are developed using the bottom-up approach. Simply put, we do not create programs that our NGO and community partners do not need. We empower our partners by allowing them to develop their own programs and activities, and we help them with volunteer mobilization and fund generation. We develop sustainable, measurable, and high-impact programs. CORPORATE PARTNERSHIPS: HOM also organizes volunteer activities for corporations which come in two forms: long-term partnerships wherein a corporation taps the expertise and network of HOM for a year or more to develop and strengthen its employee volunteerism; and short-term partnerships, or special projects wherein HOM coordinates and matches corporations for a specific volunteer activity in one-off service projects or a series of volunteer activities.

Hope Mountain Foundation
Hope Mountain Center is a safe refuge of hope, healing, and restoration for children (boys and girls) rescued from on-line sexual exploitation (OSEC). Our priority is to accept sibling groups (brothers and sisters) so they do not have to be sent to separate facilities. Hope Mountain Center is located in Cebu, Philippines. Children live in a home-style setting and receive medical care, counseling, education, social services, life-skills training, vocational training, and Biblical discipleship. The resident house parents in each restoration home are a Filipino Christian married couple. Children have both a positive male and female role model in their lives. Hope Mountain Center is Licensed to Operate by the Philippine Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Hope Mountain Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
