Mddl
mddl was founded with the goal of advancing scalable, efficient and sustainable middle housing forms within established neighbourhoods and promoting vibrant, walkable communities with more housing options to meet the diverse needs of Canadians. As experienced developers, we had many ideas (too many ideas) about how to take our land development expertise to support a greater ecosystem in building more housing. Amidst the multitude of ideas, two core beliefs guided us: 1. We recognized that land development is historically shrouded in secrecy with little or no central area to find trusted information. We wanted to create transparency and visibility into this process, shedding light on the potential of middle housing for the entire ecosystem. It takes a Community. We are passionate about helping to support people and having them support each other as they embark on their middle housing journey. We recognize that neither of us would have been able to accomplish half of what we have without the amazing and talented people we have had the privilege to work alongside and learn from. Learn more about how we build capacity for municipalities, housing providers, industry and citizens:

We bring together agencies, organizations and individuals representing most of Toronto’s shelters, multi-service organizations, and supportive housing providers. Our Community Partners and Individual Supporters work with people who are marginalized by poverty; many of whom are currently homeless. We are driven by a collective mission to end chronic homelessness. Or, to put it another way, to make homelessness in our city rare, brief, and non-recurring. We are community based, focused on what we can achieve through our collective impact. We recognize the critical importance of working with all levels of government, particularly the City of Toronto, to achieve the goal of ending homelessness. We work to engage individuals and organizations that represent a broad segment of society and include people with lived experience of homelessness (PWLE), service delivery agencies, research and policy organizations, consumer driven organizations, businesses, associations and advocacy groups and community organizations. The TAEH also serves as the non-Indigenous Community Advisory Board on housing and homelessness for the City of Toronto. This means that we convene and coordinate the diverse range of homelessness service and housing providers in order to strategically inform City planning and policy on issues related to homelessness.

Canadian Network Of Community Land Trusts
The Canadian Network of Community Land Trusts (CNCLT) is a network of over 35 emerging and established community land trusts and allied organizations working together to ensure the success and growth of the Community Land Trust (CLT) model throughout Canada. The goal of the CNCLT is to support the growth of community land trusts with the primary purposes of providing permanently affordable housing and other community assets that serve low-to-moderate income people. CNCLT was established in July 2017 in response to renewed interest and emerging challenges associated with the CLTs in Canada. Since establishment, the CNCLT has organized regular peer-to-peer networking meetings, knowledge exchanges, and webinars on CLTs. In 2021 CNCLT formally incorporated as a non-profit corporation after receiving funding from the CMHC Demonstrations Initiatives, under the Scaling Stream, to develop a Technical Assistance Program to support the growth of Canadian CLTs. We recognize that the Canadian Network of Community Land Trusts and its members are working on the traditional territories of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people. Centuries of colonialism have dispossessed Indigenous people of lands they have stewarded since time immemorial. Operating within a landscape of stolen land and broken treaties, it is imperative that the Network and its members support Indigenous self-determination and land restitution through tangible actions.
